About Us

Charlotte Appliance has been a Rochester area fixture since 1932. Originally located in the village of Charlotte at the corner of Fleming St. in Lake Avenue, it was founded by Tony Agostinelli Sr. and his wife during the Depression. In those early days, Tony would barter and trade with customers wherever he could find them. The relationships he developed persevered, and buyers kept coming back.

What set Tony Sr. apart from all the other entrepreneurs of the time was his vision. He realized even back then that there was a place for a family-owned business that could offer quality products without department store prices.

With that dream, and a knack for turning strangers and customers into customers and friends, Tony was able to expand the store. In 1960, he purchased the block-long Lake Theater building on Lake Avenue. The next year he added televisions, furniture, and bedding to the list of items carried in his store.

While Tony Sr. is no longer with us, his way of doing business has persevered for almost 100 years. Visit us on Lake Avenue and you’ll see a lighted marquee that reads “Charlotte Appliance.” Inside, we still keep a gorgeous showroom that blends the expansive theater’s lobby, ballroom, and balcony areas with comfortable and affordable custom and stock furniture, mattresses, and much, much more for everyday living. The lower level is reserved for quality appliances.

Even more important than our distinctive decor is our commitment to offering great deals and service to our friends and neighbors. Charlotte Furniture and Appliance is still owned and operated by second and third-generation Agostinelli family members. And, we still have the lowest prices, a friendly and knowledgeable staff, and an unmatched reputation and history to live up to.

If you want to know what Charlotte Appliance is all about, we hope you’ll come and visit us for yourself!
